Things That Go Bump in the Night

Dates for 2019 are coming soon!

When the gates are locked for the night, who knows what nocturnal creatures call the Cradle of Forestry Heritage Site home? From our Blue Ghost Fireflies, owls and coyotes to black bears and tree frogs, join us for a night of exploration as we make Cradle of Forestry night hiking a reality! Our team of naturalists will talk about who comes out when the sun goes down, then lead a night hike along the paved trails of the Cradle in search of anything nocturnal in Pisgah National Forest. But before we explore, we’ll get up close and personal with some live critters that may have feathers, claws, fur and the ability to see in the dark! As we continue onto the trails, we’ll shut off the lights, let our eyes adjust, look for movement and search for our forest friends. This family-friendly event is one that you don’t want to miss. Pre-registration is required. Please check out calendar of events below to register!
